Did you know that one-third of all new businesses are started by people over 40?
And a lot of those people are women...just like you.
They've spent years working for someone else while raising families, juggling responsibilities, and dreaming of one day creating a business that they control, that builds on their strengths, that gives them the flexibility they need, and that lights them up.
Starting a business these days is the easy part. The hard part is getting everything done to make that business a success. And that's where I come in.
Hi there! I'm Shelley and I'm glad you stopped by.
I help new midlife solopreneurs increase their productivity and overcome their limiting beliefs so they can move their businesses forward.
You're in the right place if:
- you've left - or are thinking about leaving - your traditional job to branch out and work for yourself
- you've started a home business but you find yourself struggling with knowing WHAT to do and HOW to actually get it done
- you're not sure you have what it takes to over come the "I'm just a (whatever)" mindset that is necessary for success
- you need someone to help you break your goals into manageable steps, encourage you to take them, and hold you accountable when you don't
Here's how I can help you
I've been where you are...
First off, I’m a retired public school teacher and administrator. I’m like you in that I went into a traditional “helping” career and spent many years there before leaving. To be honest, there were things about the job that I loved, and things that I didn’t. In the back of my mind was always the nagging feeling that there was something more out there for me to do…something that I could create that would allow me to be my own boss.
But like lots of women who had a very conventional upbringing, it took a major life change before I felt like I could finally pursue my dream of working for myself.
So when the last child got out of high school, I decided that the time had come. I’d put in the years at the traditional job that provided security and stability, and now I was ready to strike out on my own.
So that’s what I did.
I started another blog (Taming Frenzy) that I still run to this day. It’s a labor of love and where I share all the things I learned about home organization and frugality.
I also partner with my husband and son in a recipe photography business (Food Blogger Resources). They handle the recipe creation, photography, and editing, while I handle the business side.
Needless to say I’ve already got my hands full…just like you do.
And because I’m a bit older than some business coaches you may run across, I’ve also got family responsibilities that include aging parents and grown…but not fully launched…adult kids.
I bet you can relate to how busy this keeps me because you’re living there too.
So if you’re thinking of launching your home business, or if you’ve already taken the leap and are struggling a bit with how to get it all done, you’ve found your home. Talking about goals, time management, and productivity is one of my favorite things. And my passion is helping other midlife entrepreneurs juggle it all in order to move their businesses forward.
We're part of that 1/3 of new business owners...so let's make sure we're successful!
Why I know I can help you...
Superpower #1: I can break big ideas, goals, and dreams down into small, manageable tasks so that they're not so overwhelming
Superpower #2: I know how to ask the questions that force you to examine your beliefs and behaviors...which will lead to new beliefs and behaviors.
Superpower #3: I'm one heck of a cheerleader! In fact, I believe that midlife women have already proven they can conquer the world once they get out of their own way.
Superpower #4: I've got an Olympic gold medal in planning. Okay, I don't really have a gold medal...but I should!
